Vision
Carpathian nature and Carpathian culture are one inheritance, made and kept by people living with the land. We see mountains that stay alive because people live in them: where the meadows are mown and the crafts are in use, and where newcomers learn the Hutsul way of life beside those who kept it.
Over time, the places hosts choose to share and the paths between them will trace corridors where cultural, natural and landscape heritage are cared for as one whole — not wilderness, but a lived-in landscape whose people can say what their land is worth before others decide it for them.
Mission
Trans-Carpathian Pathways connects the people who still keep Carpathian mountain life alive with travelers who want to meet them, slowly and on foot. It builds three things: a network of hosts who offer what they actually have — a bed, a meal, guidance, a craft — from where they live; a pathway that grows from where those hosts are rather than being drawn above them; and local Curators who hold each stretch and suggest, never sell, a journey to each traveler. There is no booking calendar, and each host decides what is shown about their place.
We begin in the Hutsul highlands of western Ukraine, between Vorokhta, Verkhovyna and Kosiv, and mean to cross every border on the arc, with a partner initiative in each country opening its own corridor.
Regeneration, not mitigation. The measure is not how many travelers came, but one question: is this place more alive, and more able to go on, than it was before the pathway?
Where we are
The map is built; the network is not yet. No host, steward or Curator is named, the co-creator agreement is a draft, and the first corridor has not been walked. We are looking for hosts and Curators in the corridor, partners along the arc, contributors, and funders for the pilot.
